Living in Wenatchee

Wenatchee is located along the Columbia River in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains. It is a growing town with a small town atmosphere. Wenatchee was the fastest growing city in the county in 2006 and was ranked as the fifth greenest city in the nation. Wenatchee is world famous for its apples but it has so much else to offer - like over 300 days of sunshine a year, a wonderful turn of the century downtown that serves as a vibrant arts, culture and retail center as well as a wide variety of outdoor activities. During the winter months, skiing is just 20 minuets away at Mission Ridge. The Wenatchee Valley is famous for its fruit orchards and numerous wineries. In the September 2007 issue of National Geographic, Wenatchee was ranked as one of the top 50 adventure cities in the nation. Wenatchee has its own race car track, the Super Oval and their own baseball team, the AppleSox which is a part of the West Coast Collegiate Baseball League. Open during the summer months is the drive-in movie theater. Only one hour away is The Gorge Amphitheater at George. Local area boat docks provide easy access to the Columbia River. Lake Wenatchee and Lake Chelan are also located near by provided recreation and fishing. Along the river banks is a 12 mile round trip bike trail. Hunting, fishing, rafting and kayaking are daily activated in the Wenatchee area. Located in the northwestern area of town is a Frisbee golf course, which was also designed by Munson Engineers, Inc. There are several local and city parks throughout the area as well as athletic centers. Wenatchee has all the amenities of a large city, including a local mall, an airport, Costco, Les Schwab, movie theaters, Fred Myers, Lowes, Home Depot and many more.
