robert culp, p.e. - principal engineer
Bob Culp came to Munson Engineers from the Everett area as an experienced civil engineer specializing in street and utility design, and construction engineering. He is a licensed Professional Engineer and has been responsible for projects throughout Washington and Idaho. Mr. Culp entered employment with Munson Engineers as Chief Engineer and is now the senior principal.
Bob holds a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Stanford University and two Bachelor of Science degrees in Civil Engineering and Industrial Engineering from the University of Washington. He has been employed with Munson Engineers for over thirty years. His experience encompasses municipal consulting, utility design and management, and civil engineering work for private clients. He represents the client in communicating with public agencies having jurisdiction over projects, arranges and hosts public meetings, facilitates the permitting processes through public agencies, authors comprehensive planning and project reports, and designs and manages projects. In his first five years with Munson Engineers, he was design and project engineer for transforming outdated roads of Crawford Street, Cherry Street and Washington Street in the City of Wenatchee into the arterial streets they are today, and at the same time was Engineer of Record for the Wenatchee Avenue downtown "Streetscape" project.
Bob designs and manages water projects large and small. He created a new domestic water system at Lakeview Heights, beginning with application for water rights, and then designing a large "Group A" system for residential use above the shores of Lake Roosevelt. He designed the rebuilding of the Wilson Creek municipal water system throughout the entire town by successfully applying for a Community Development Block Grant and designing a modern system from well to reservoirs. Smaller water systems, such as the Blue Lake Water Users Association, use him to provide solutions to water quality, water quantity and water storage problems.
A significant portion of his work centers on design of residential, commercial and industrial subdivisions. He has designed residential subdivisions from Anacortes, Washington to Rathdrum, Idaho. He has designed housing projects for the Sauk, Suiattle, Upper Skagit and Tulalip tribes. His commercial development projects are particularly attractive and adapted to their environment. His expertise in hydraulics and hydraulic modeling create uniquely appropriate solutions to storm water management, domestic water, and sanitary sewer problems of all types, sizes and complexity. He designs public and community swimming pools and spas, such as those at the Davenport Hotel in Spokane, Sun Mountain Lodge at Winthrop, or Broadview in Wenatchee. Structural design of private pools is also on his list.
Bob is licensed as an Onsite Sewer System Operation and Maintenance Provider, for providing engineering services to organizations such as the Housing Authority for Chelan County and the City of Wenatchee. He designs drainfields for single family residences, food service establishments, industrial wastewater generators and large onsite sewer systems.
Several employees and trainees under his supervision have become practicing licensed Professional Engineers.
